Restaurant POS Delivery Platform Integration in Hong Kong: What to Confirm Before Setup
Connecting a delivery platform to a restaurant POS is not simply about removing one tablet from the counter. For a small Hong Kong shop with an owner and a few helpers, first confirm where an order appears, who accepts it, how the kitchen sees it and what happens when something is wrong. Tappo can connect to delivery platforms; the actual platform and data-handling scope should be confirmed before activation.
In short
This guide is best for a small restaurant that already receives third-party delivery-platform orders and wants to check the operating flow before changing its counter setup. Ask first about the platform account, store, order entry, kitchen handoff and exception process, using one ordinary order. It is not a supported-platform list, a commission comparison or a promise that information moves automatically.
Delivery-platform orders are not self-pickup orders
Customers using your own QR ordering or takeaway link place an order directly with the shop and collect it themselves. A third-party delivery platform adds a separate marketplace account and order flow. Both may involve menus and order preparation, but they should not be treated as the same setup. For a direct takeaway or self-pickup route, read the takeaway and self-pickup guide. For the full restaurant ordering flow, read the restaurant ordering workflow guide.
Start with one normal order
Write down one ordinary delivery-platform order from customer checkout to handover. At each stage, ask: where does this information come from, who sees it, and who acts if it does not arrive? This avoids assuming that an order, menu change or status update will move automatically between systems.
Six questions to confirm before setup
- Which platform account and store need to be checked?
- Where will a new order appear, and who confirms it during a rush?
- Who maintains menu items, prices and availability in each place?
- How does the preparation team receive the order?
- What is the agreed process for a cancellation, unavailable item or missing order?
- Which fees, support responsibilities and account conditions belong to which provider?
One platform first, then expand
If a shop uses more than one delivery platform, start with the platform that produces the most routine orders. Walk one real order through the team before adding another flow. Different platforms and accounts may need different confirmation; this is not a promise that they behave the same way.
What this page does not decide
This guide does not compare marketplace commissions, list supported platforms or decide whether an account is eligible. It also does not promise menu, price, sold-out, payment, refund, settlement or reconciliation synchronisation. Ask Tappo with the platform name, store account and current handoff process to confirm the scope for your case.
Next step
If your shop is planning its broader POS setup, start with the Tappo restaurant POS system overview. If you are comparing systems, use the Hong Kong restaurant POS comparison.
